2020-21 Season
Reimagined
The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas is delighted to present its reimagined 2020-21 Season, featuring intimate outdoor performances, virtual concerts, livestream experiences and more. After initially announcing an impressive seven-concert 2020-21 Season mainstage lineup at Walton Arts Center, spanning October 2020 through May 2021, SoNA ultimately had to postpone its originally planned concerts due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“While admittedly a challenging time for symphonies everywhere, we have a rare opportunity to reevaluate the status quo, find new ways to reconnect with our audiences, and reimagine what an orchestra can be,” says SoNA Executive Director D. Riley Nicholson. “Through SoNA's reimagined season, our musical offerings will not just adapt to current obstacles, but also speak to the moment in time we find ourselves in.”

Solos from Home
Geronimo Oyenard, SoNA's Associate Principal Second Violin, performs a tango by Astor Piazzolla. Geronimo shares a fond memory of playing tangos for his grandpa, and we're privileged to hear him bring this memory back with a beautiful performance of this melancholy, meditative etude.
SoNA's longtime resident contrabassoonist, Richard Bobo, shares his love of the contrabassoon (x4!) with a performance of Arkansan composer William Grant Still's "The Quiet One.”
Leigh Muñoz, second bassoonist at SoNA, performs Valsa Improvisada by Francisco Mignone.
Ryan Robinson, SoNA's Principal Tubist, performs all four parts of "Dances" by John Stevens. The piece was composed in 1975 for solo tuba (or euphonium) and three tubas and premiered by the composer himself at Yale.
Associate Concertmaster Zsolt Eder performs Fantasia No. 7 for Solo Violin, in E-flat Major by Georg Philipp Telemann as part of our latest in the Solos from Home series.

Meet Theresa Delaplain, SoNA's principal oboist! Theresa's previous scholarly study involved ornamentation (musical flourishes—typically, added notes), which is on full display in this piece, Fantasie 9 by Georg Philipp Telemann.
For the debut of this series, SoNA's concertmaster, Winona Fifield chose to perform Bach’s Arioso, recounting a profound musical experience she had one clear evening just after performing with SoNA.
